Seven Oaks Child Day Care Centre, Inc.
  About

Seven Oaks Child Day Care Centre Inc. is an Inclusive nonprofit centre which provides child care services for the Seven Oaks Hospital and the community at large. We have been in operation since 1982, offering care for children between the ages of 3 months and 12 years.

The centre opened in order to offer services to the staff of Seven Oaks Hospital, but because of its' off-site location, it quickly opened to the community at large. In December 2004, the Centre relocated and is now "on-site" within the Seven Oaks Hospital.

In April 1998, we assumed management of Wee Tree Day Nursery at 713 Salter Street. Our serviced expanded in July 1999 when Wee Tree closed its' doors and the families moved to Seven Oaks Day Care. The impetus for this move was twofold. Firstly, it has been a long time goal of our centre to offer a "one stop" service to families, whereby infants, preschoolers and school-age children who are siblings can be at the same centre. One stop for families means less stress for parents during the morning and evening drop off/pick up times. It also means more stability for children as they form caregiver attachments and relationships during their formative years. Secondly, the growth to an 80 space program for children 3 months to 12 years strengthens our marketing ability, and in turn, the long term financial viability of Seven Oaks Child Day Care Centre Inc.

Children with additional support needs are provided with inclusive programs, which are meaningful, comfortable and therapeutic. Therapists from Society for Manitobans with Disabilities and the Health Sciences Centre take an active role in providing staff and families with direct therapy and ongoing recommendations. Due to the experience and knowledge our staff has gained over the years in working with children with support needs, our service delivery is not duplicated to the same level in this community. In fact, our centre has often been used as a model for visitors from other centres as far away as Ireland.

All staff attend regular professional development events and are members of the Manitoba Child Care Association. Staff also have up-to-date Emergency First Aid and CPR. All staff members are screened through a criminal records investigation.

In total, our staff can boast of 128 years paid experience in providing early childhood education and care to children. We consider our staff the strongest resource for our quality program.

Seven Oaks Child Day Care Centre Inc. is a member of the Manitoba Child Care Association and licensed by the Manitoba Child Care Program.
